Q. When will my membership start?
A. Membership starts the first day your membership fee is paid and you've
received service. When you pay by credit card, your PMR membership can
be effective immediately. If you join PMR via US mail (credit card, money
order or cashier's check), we'll call you the day we receive your fee
and make arrangements for your first referrals (fax, mail, or e-mail).

Q. How will I get in contact with musicians or
bands?
A. We provide you with referrals that fit you (based on the criteria you’ve
given us), so you can contact them. We also provide your name, phone number,
and other pertinent information to other members whom you appear to fit
(based on the criteria provided to us) so they can contact you. You take
it from there. ^ top
Q. How often will I receive referrals?
A. You can request referrals as often as once a week - referrals are not
sent automatically. We waive the once-a-week limit for working bands in
immediate need of a musician. ^ top
Q. Can I stop and restart my membership anytime?
A. You can stay available or unavailable as long as you wish, and can
switch your status back and forth as often as you like during the period
of your membership. However, the freeze feature applies only to the 12-month
membership - if you choose to deactivate your listing within a six-month
membership or outside the 12-month membership's freezes, the length of
membership is not extended.

Q. How long do you keep me active on your referral
lists?
A. If you’re a band seeking a musician, until you fill your position – however,
if you don't inform us when you’ve
selected your player and a month or more has passed with no contact from
you, we must
assume you’ve found your player and deactivate that request. It’s
important to keep in contact with us – give us a call, leave a message
on our voicemail, email us, or send us a note and let us know you’ve
found your player or you’re still searching.
Bands registering free: 1 month.
If you’re a musician seeking a group, we’ll keep your file
active as long as you wish. However, if a lengthy period of time passes
with no contact from you and we hear you’re not responding to calls
from other PMR members, we must assume you’re no longer available
and deactivate your file.
One of the strengths of our service is our commitment to provide our
members with up to date referrals. We will not knowingly provide outdated
information. ^ top
Q. What do I need to send to you?
A. A promo kit is not required for membership (except as noted in "Notes"
below). We do appreciate being able to hear and see our
members, so if you don't have a web site that includes photos and sound
clips, go ahead and send an audio demo (cassette, CD or Video) and
a photo (snapshots are OK). {Please
do not send us your only tape or your original – we do not
provide duplicating services or return promotional materials.} The
audio demo should include 4-5 tunes in a variety of styles (live recordings
are
OK as long
as we
can
hear you). If you have a bio prepared or a promo kit, send
that along too. We recommend you send your package at least by 2-day
priority mail, and make sure it’s well packaged, so your materials
aren’t
damaged in transit.
Notes:
1. In the case of a signed group seeking musicians, players
or singers must submit at least a demo and photo to be considered
for referral to those groups.
2. If you're seeking booking agent referrals and don't have a web site
that includes photos and sound clips, we must review a promo kit. We
waive that requirement for established acts we know something about.

Q. Are you going to be sending my demo and photo
to groups or musicians (or agents or record labels)?
A. No, we don’t send tapes and photos out to anyone else. That type
of service is typically done by managers, who get paid a lot more for
their services.
^ top
Q. I’m not ready to join PMR, but can I
send my demo anyway?
A. We'd really prefer not, because we really must focus our time and energies
on current members - reviewing material is part of the service we provide
to our members.
^ top
Q. What’s your guarantee?
A. We guarantee we’ll provide you with referrals to member musicians
or groups that appear to fit your criteria, for the duration of your membership.
We do not make guarantees regarding hiring, because we have no control
over who a group hires, or which opportunities a musician chooses to pursue.
^ top
Q. Do I have to be in the musicians’ union
to be a PMR member?
A. Nope. PMR is not connected with any union. If you or your band takes
a union gig, you'll need to become a union member.
^ top
Q. I’m a musician looking for a group.
Once I join a band, can I let them use my membership if they need other
players?
A. No - the membership stays with the person who purchased it. If you
join a band that's not already a PMR member, the band would need their
own membership.
^ top
Q. I’m joining PMR as a band - what happens
to the membership if the group breaks up?
A. If the leader buys the membership, then the membership says with that
individual. He/She can change it to an individual membership and use it
to find a new group to join, or can use the membership to assemble a new
group.
If the band members are going to chip in on the membership, you should
decide in advance who would retain the membership if the group disbands,
and let us know up front. All members of a disbanding group would not
be all able to use the membership to find new bands.

Q. What kind of bands and gigs do you have?
A. Full-time and Part-time bands playing bars, clubs, cruise ships, casinos,
hotels, resorts, colleges, fairs, conventions, weddings, corporate parties,
festivals, street dances, rodeos, special events, Dept. of Defense tours,
USO tours, opening for national acts. Local, regional, national, and international.
· Bands with house gigs
· Bands with record contracts (indy and major label)
· Recording acts touring nationally & internationally
· Start-up groups – cover, original, cover/original
· Solo gigs, session work, jingles, fill-ins & temporary gigs,
short-term tours ^ top
Q. I'm in a band now - why should I sign up
with PMR?
A. Many musicians not only want to keep their options open, they consider
their PMR membership to be insurance - it's there when and if you need
it. Many other musicians find themselves between a rock and a hard place
when they have an immediate need for the service, because they're out
of work and out of money by then.

Q. I’m a booking agent. Can I become a
PMR member to get musicians for my bands?
A. Since we list working bands free, we can work with you in that way
- musicians would receive the information and make contact with you or
the band. However, in order to receive lists of musicians to contact,
each band must have its own membership.
PMR membership is available to you if you wish to expand your roster.
We always have bands, duos, and solo artists seeking new agents - we prescreen
any acts we refer.
^ top
Q. If I register my working band free, how does that work?
A. After you've submitted the form with your group's information, it's added to our database and we provide the information to members whose profiles show they might be a good match for your band. We continue referring selected members to you until the position is filled. If we don't hear from you in the interim, we'll delete the listing after three months.

Q. How can I get on the "Featured Musicians" page?
A. PMR members who are registered as individual musicians can be included on the "Featured Musicians" page. If you're already a member and want to be added, just send us an e-mail or give us a call. We'll send you the suggested text for your approval before putting it online. Member musicians are added only with their permission and approval. If you're not a member, you'll need to buy a membership in order to be eligible for inclusion on the "Featured Musicians" page.
